As you might guess from its name, JobNet is CCSC's program designed to help
job seekers find work. JobNet focuses on the needs of underemployed and unemployed persons
who often have significant barriers to a traditional job search (limited computer skills,
limited experience, limited education, etc.).
JobNet offers a variety of skill-building services and access to the "tools" they require.
One of the strongest features of our program is its small, supportive environment where
talented volunteers assist clients. This encouraging atmosphere, combined with practical
resources, helps each participant navigate the ups and downs that may accompany a job search.
At JobNet, individuals can learn about employer expectations, personal management, business
etiquette, communication skills and computer literacy.
JobNet Services
COACHES offer one-to-one consultation to job seekers, helping
develop individualized job search strategies, set goals, create resumes, practice
interview skills, and offer encouragement. In this process, we often see great
transformations and "Ah-Ha!" moments.
JOB LEADS are posted in the JobNet facility for clients to access!
WORKSHOPS are currently offered at JobNet, including:
- JOB SEARCH TECHNIQUES
- THE ART OF INTERVIEWING
- POWER OF ATTITUDE
- EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
COMPUTER TRAINING is essential in a job search, and our facility offers
several technical classes:
- KEYBOARDING (learn to type)
- INTERNET & EMAIL 101(learn to setup E-mail and search the Internet)
- HOW TO APPLY FOR JOBS ONLINE
- WORKPLACE COMPUTING I (multi-session, instructor-led course including Windows, Internet
Explorer & Word - offered during the day)
- WORKPLACE COMPUTING II (multi-session, instructor- led Word and Excel - offered on
Thursday evenings)
BARRIER BUSTERS To address the hurdles faced by some of our clients, JobNet has additional offerings:
- Career Closet
- Referrals to other helpful organizations and services
- Transportation Assistance
