In 2000, a Community Garden was created on the grounds of a nearby CCSC member
church. The vegetables and fruits are tended and harvested, brought to the Emergency
Services food pantry, and distributed to persons in need by volunteers. This fresh
produce is an excellent addition to our food packages and provides a unique nutritional
benefit to clients.
Each year, the garden produces 2,000 to 3,000 pounds of corn, green beans,
snap peas, black-eyed peas, lettuce, okra, eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers, jalapenos,
bell peppers, apples, strawberries, melons, figs, peaches and more! The biggest
months of production are usually May and June.

"For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations." - Isaiah 61:11
